Inseparable, you and I –
our hearts are carved
from the same piece of ebony wood,
our hands are crowbars,
that till the sky, and sow it
with yellow orchids.
We miss each other no end –
our feet are tired,
and the end of the Universe is far,
so we will abide a little
in crickets’ song.
I barely know you,
but your eyes say it all,
and I feel the love in your warm palms.
You will protect all little things,
and I will heal your wounds.
You are loved by the birds,
and flowers, and fireflies, and pond lilies,
because you are unspeakably blue.
We will write this book together,
I will lay the bricks, you will lay the binder.
